#1. Who should use the EXPUTT putting simulator?
The quick answer? To all golf enthusiasts, whatever their level!
As we said, golf is a very time consuming activity. The courses or practices are often far away and it takes several hours to devote between the travel and the practice itself.
Family and professional constraints do not usually allow us to practice as often as we would like.
Putting is often the last wheel of the carriage! Taking an hour on a practice green when we barely have time to play a round from time to time is complicated for many of us!
The advantage of a putt simulator at home is that you will be able to practice regularly. To be able to dedicate practice sessions, or even just simple sessions to have fun. These are already enough to progress very quickly when you go on the course.
Because the purpose of the golf simulator is not to be an indoor golf champion! It is to progress and to have more fun on a real golf course.
For beginners, the simulator will allow them to learn more quickly with regular practice. The understanding of the club face and the analysis of the data provided by the simulator will offer them the best conditions!
For the more experienced golfers, it is the beginning of a new golfing era ;-)
The data transmitted by the simulator will be used for daily work. The numerous training options coupled with the challenges will make you progress at high speed while waiting for your next outdoor course!
A practice session at home between work and lunch? A 9-hole round in 20 minutes in the morning before going to work? A little putting practice while your child takes a nap? Anything is possible!

#2. Exputt Train like a pro
The technology and the settings
Equipped with a high-speed camera, the Exputt films your shot in order to analyze all the parameters of your stroke as well as the trajectory of the ball.
The data analyzed by the HD camera is as follows:
- Club Path
- Club face at impact
- Direction of the ball
- Speed of the ball
- Distance traveled
- Lateral deviation of the putt
The installation of the Exputt is very simple, you just have to connect it to HDMI. No specific settings, just turn it on and it works. All you need is a playback device (TV, video projector, etc.) with an HDMI socket.
All cables are included, nothing else is required!
In order to allow the camera to perfectly read your club path with your putter, stickers are provided, just stick them on your putter.
On the other hand, it will be possible to set different factors in the game modes: The speed of the green, the diameter of the hole, the unit of measurement, left-handed or right-handed...
We will detail all this in the following paragraphs.
The different game modes
Exputt includes three game modes:
THE PRACTICE
To train and progress! Several options allow you to vary the pleasures for a more or less difficult training. First of all, you can set the driving speed. 8 driving speeds are available to train on all types of greens.
Graphical options are also available to improve the immersion (city scenery, countryside with trees etc...).
There are three proposals for the choice of distances:
- Fixed: Choose your distance between 2 and 15 meters
- Random: The distance will vary between 2 and 15 meters (you can set the min and max according to your preferences too).
- Increasing : You will be able to putt at 2m then 3 then 6 then 9 then 15
At the end of each practice session you will have a summary graph of all your shots (statistics, dispersions...).
In this mode you can also activate the putt analysis. Simply putt 30 balls to find out the average of your deviations according to the distance, your club path and your impact angle.
On the driving range, all your shots will be analyzed: club path, impact angle, putter direction, ball speed, ball distance, putter direction at impact...
This very complete tool will allow you to improve your putting while staying at home.
CHALLENGE
The challenge mode turns your putts into points. This is the most addictive exercise in our opinion because it allows you to see your progress with a very precise scoring system. The goal of the game is quite simple:
The challenge is divided into 9 exercises. Each exercise consists of 3 holes for which you have 3 attempts to put the ball within one meter. A maximum of 81 putts. And if you get to that point it's because the Exputt will be useful for you 😉
The point system is as follows:
10 points for the first try, 5 points for the second, 2 for the third, and 0 if the third try is not within one meter.
The variety of holes, with different slopes, distances and starting points, make the exercise infinitely reproducible.
4 levels of difficulty for this game:
- Spring (Easy): A spring green full of cherry blossoms
- Summer(A quick roll): A summer green in the shade of the trees
- Autumn (Difficult): A green with golden leaves
- Winter (Difficult): A winter green after the snow has fallen
The challenge allows you to train on the distances but also on the apprehension of the slopes. It allows you to understand and learn how to read a slope
To orientate yourself, it's easy, either you putt to the right or to the left, or you use the directional arrows. One option allows you to see the line of play and another one allows you to zoom in on the green in order to understand the hole.
The only drawback is that it cannot be set in terms of the number of holes. If you launch it, you have 27 holes to play, but you can stop it in progress and have the result in number of points when you stop.
THE 9-HOLE COURSE
For fun on your own or with up to 4 players. A course with different holes and distances. The goal of the game is to make only 2 putts to make pars. Very playful in group! Who will be the best putter in the game?
Our opinion: The most fun mode of play, which also allows us to introduce our non-golfing friends to the game!
OUR OPINION ON THE EXPUTT
Our conclusion after weeks of testing by several dozen golfers in our indoor center in Toulouse:
Exputt's positives:
No need for a PC or a tablet
Connects to HDMI (everything is provided in the box)
Easily transportable (the camera is very small, like a GoPro, and the mat rolls up and takes up very little space, equivalent to a 1.5L bottle).
The price is very attractive. At only 549€TTC, it competes, in quality and use, with the Sam PuttLab which is worth almost ten times more! It's not only for professionals anymore. The break at this level is really incredible and it is this price positioning with an incredible quality that made us fall for this tool.
Easy to use (no software installation) Just plug it in and it works
The number of data analyzed
Great for training and fun
Possible improvements in our opinion:
Not suitable for outdoor use. It would be interesting to be able to use the data analyzed by the camera on a real green.
The data cannot be exported but can be saved.
The challenge mode is a bit long to finish because it is not customizable (9*3 holes)
For the final word, I would say that at this price, it is the best tool we have tested yet. I hope we'll have more nice surprises like this one, but definitely, the Exputt deserves the many awards it's been gleaning since its release.
